WolkenFabriek

This project is an experimental video work exploring the impact of overproduction and automation, using the Dutch landscape as a visual and conceptual anchor. Through unconventional filming and editing techniques, the video reflects the relentless pace of mass production, immersing the viewer in a world where efficiency overshadows humanity. By constructing a high-intensity audiovisual experience, the piece mimics the mechanical precision of industrial processes, blurring the line between human and machine. The repetitive beeping sounds from Albert Heijn’s checkout scanners serve as a metaphor—not for a human heartbeat, but for the pulse of an automated system, where life is measured in transactions and rhythm is dictated by machinery. This work critically examines the unhealthy consequences of automation, questioning the cost of relentless productivity in an increasingly mechanized world.

RAM (Random Access Memory)

RAM explores light in its many forms, with the sun as a central source of inspiration. Through the visual phenomena of phosphene and afterimage, we investigate how light lingers, pulses, and imprints itself beyond vision into memory and sensation. The film evoke a sensory experience where light becomes rhythmic and intimacy; blurring the line between what is seen and what is felt.

Lights' dichotomies

Before tracing the lineage of light I always thought of it as a simple presence, either there or absent, but as I followed its path, I saw a history woven with contrasts, from the first flicker of a bonfire, to the glow of digital screens. ~Light was survival, light became consumption.

Lights On, Beyond the Sun

The sun rises and sets every day, but in the modern world, darkness is no longer a natural sign of rest. The light that should be gone when the sun goes down is replaced by artificial light, and people continue to work endlessly. IIn the cycle of nature, we are becoming increasingly accustomed to artificial light, losing the rhythm of the sun. Through the contrast between the sun and artificial light, this work illuminates the endless labor and circular structure of modern society. The balance of day and night provided by nature is broken, and we are trapped in an artificially created time. The days when the sun dictated our lives are gone; now, we exist under artificial light, forgetting when the day truly ends.

fountain of youth

Long has been the search for the fountain of youth, with humanity’s desperation for rejuvenation fuelling every attempt at staying young forever. But the answer doesn’t lie in a fable, it lies in a body of water.

Using a personal video archive, the artist recreates this fruitless search for eternity through disconcerting sequences and contrasting audio elements.

Let's pretend

Under the hot sun, it all begins at 1 and passes by with a minute. As give into the sand that gently grazes our skin, we allow ourselves to slowly melt back into the depths of stillness.
